The Instagram team confirmed that they are developing a new feature called Favorites, whereby users will be able to select certain accounts whose posts will be displayed at the top of their feed. This is a feature similar to that already available on Facebook and which allows users to have greater control over the algorithm that manages the news feed on the popular social network (up to 30 friends or pages can be selected).

According to what was discovered by Alessandro Paluzzi, users will be able to search among the Instagram accounts they are currently following to create a list of favorites and this list can be modified at any time (the social network specifies that users will not be notified when they are added to someone’s Favorites).
It seems that Paluzzi has managed to add contacts to the favorites list but has not yet noticed any changes to the Instagram feed after doing so and this could mean that the feature is still under construction and the release for all users is not imminent. As we learn from Tech Crunch, the social network team confirmed that this is a prototype feature still in development and therefore did not provide further details on what it will offer users or when it could be launched globally.
Undoubtedly, a function of this type could be welcomed by those who want to have more control over the algorithm that determines the order of the posts to be displayed, allowing you to prioritize the most important accounts for each user and setting aside other criteria (such as, for example, the one based on the publication date). The hope is to have new details from the developer team soon.
