Microsoft began to roll out a new August 2021 firmware update for Surface Duo. The latest firmware version brings the August security patch incorporation for this dual-screen mobile device. The August 2021 update package size for Surface Duo is about 40.22MB, the firmware version for North America is 2021.721.41, and the version for Europe is 2021.721.43. In addition, this updated AT&T version can also be used on locked Surface Duo devices.
It is worth noting that the Surface Duo dual-screen device is still running the Android 10 system. This release does not bring the long-awaited Android 11 system update for Surface Duo users. According to reports, last year’s Android 11 system update is planned to be carried out this summer, but it is still not visible on the Surface Duo.
The news revealed that Microsoft is already developing the Surface Duo 2, which will be equipped with a Snapdragon 888 5G chip and three rear cameras. Microsoft has not officially announced the Surface Duo 2, but it is expected to be launched sometime in September or October this year.
