A few weeks earlier, Jeff Bezos’s Blue Origin space company had filed a lawsuit against NASA for selecting Elon Musk’s company, SpaceX, to build a spacecraft to land on the Moon. This led to NASA’s decision to temporarily freeze its contract with SpaceX until the case is heard.
But other than that, Jeff Bezos does not seem to have been content with the lawsuit alone, as Amazon now urges the FFC (Federal Communications Commission) to completely reject all SpaceX plans to launch a satellite sequel to powering the Starlink satellite network service. Elon Musk, in turn, did not hold back and posted a post on Twitter, mocking Jeff Bezos.
The tweet said:
Apparently, Bezos retired to have a full-time job filing lawsuits against SpaceX
Amazon’s recent complaint is in the form of a letter of protest, not a formal lawsuit. The Starlink satellite network is currently powered by approximately 1,740 low-orbit satellites, which serve approximately 90,000 customers. SpaceX is preparing to launch about 30,000 satellites to improve its service and must inform the FCC exactly where they will be placed around the Earth.
Amazon’s problem is that SpaceX wants to set up a satellite sequence on two different orbits, and the company believes that if the FFC approves its plan, it will set a bad precedent – making it difficult for the company to install its own satellites.
