Apple on Friday announced a new service plan for iPhone 12 and iPhone 12 Pro models that have sound problems when making or receiving calls. Apple said that the service plan for iPhone 12 and iPhone 12 Pro without sound problems covers a limited number of devices manufactured between October 2020 and April 2021.
According to a document detailing the plan and its terms, a very small percentage of iPhone 12 and 12 Pro models may experience sound problems due to a possible malfunction of a component on the receiver module. The affected device will not emit sound from the receiver when making or receiving calls.
Affected people can take their iPhone 12 or 12 Pro devices to Apple or Apple’s authorized service provider to receive free services. As usual, the equipment will be inspected before service, and customers may be required to pay for repairs that prevent the completion of audio repairs.
The plan covers affected iPhone 12 and iPhone 12 Pro devices within two years after the first retail. Apple pointed out that other iPhone models including iPhone 12 mini and iPhone 12 Pro Max are not within the scope of the plan.
