According to Clean Technica’s long-term record of Tesla’s sales, at the end of the second quarter of 2021, the global delivery of Model 3 has reached 1031588. This makes Model 3 the world’s first electric car with cumulative sales of more than 1 million units.
Please note that these are not 100% official data, because Tesla reports the combined delivery of Model 3 and Model Y. However, the official registration data of Model 3 and Model Y from dozens of countries does help provide a reference for CleanTechnica’s quarterly data. In the second quarter, CleanTechnica estimated that 225,000 Model 3 cars were delivered to customers.
At the same time, the cumulative sales of Tesla Model Y have just exceeded 250,000, and CleanTechnica predicts that its sales will slightly exceed 500,000 by the end of this year. Both Model S and Model X delivered close to 200,000 vehicles at the end of the second quarter (June). Readers of CleanTechnica pointed out that the cumulative sales of Nissan LEAF in December 2020 exceeded 500,000. It is the only electric car that achieves this goal other than Model 3.
