As expected, Samsung in the past few hours officially presented Samsung Galaxy Watch 4 and Galaxy Watch 4 Classic, smartwatches with which the awaited new version of Wear OS, born from the collaboration between Google and the Korean giant, also debuts.
Undoubtedly it is precisely the software aspect that most piques the curiosity of enthusiasts and professionals, as one wonders what the new Wear OS is able to offer users and help in this sense comes directly from the mountain giant.
The Google team, in fact, has published a post on the official blog with which it suggests five possible features that Wear OS will make available to those who decide to buy Samsung Galaxy Watch 4 (which can count on a customized interface from the Korean giant).
The five things you can do with the new Wear OS
1. Navigate with Google Maps on your wrist
One of the first things that come to mind when thinking about a smartwatch is the possibility of using the GPS module to receive instructions to reach a certain destination and the Google Maps app on Wear OS is designed to bring the user to their destination in the as efficiently as possible, with step-by-step directions sent from the phone to the watch and synchronization that will allow you to see the home and work addresses previously added on your smartphone.
2. Stay connected with Messages by Google
With the updated Google Messages app, you will be able to receive messages wherever you are and easily reply directly from your watch without having to pick up your phone. The application on the watch syncs with the smartphone so that conversations stay up to date.
3. Pay in more countries with Google Pay
With the new Wear OS arrives in 16 other countries (Belgium, Brazil, Chile, Croatia, Czech Republic, Denmark, Finland, Hong Kong, Ireland, New Zealand, Norway, Slovakia, Sweden, Taiwan, Ukraine and the United Arab Emirates) the possibility to pay with Google Pay directly from your wrist.
4. Download and listen to your favorite tunes with YouTube Music
YouTube Music Premium subscribers will be able to access over 80 million songs and thousands of playlists on the new YouTube Music app on Wear OS. The app can be downloaded directly from the smartwatch through the Play Store.
5. Discover new Google Play apps and Tiles
Wear OS will be able to count on many apps developed in collaboration with Google and equipped with an improved interface: among them are reported Calm, Komoot, MyFitnessPal, Period Tracker, Sleep Cycle, Spotify and Strava. Just log into the Google Play Store and you will be spoiled for choice.
Many of these apps will also introduce new tiles, thus allowing users to quickly access the information and actions that matter most to them. Lastly, Spotify will support offline playback. Some of these new features will begin rolling out today for current Wear OS users and will be available to those who purchase Samsung’s smartwatches from their market debut, scheduled for late August.
