According to the latest report, after the technical A test in April, Blizzard made more improvements and upgrades to Diablo 2 Resurrected based on player feedback. Improve the visual effects of the game, enhance the game experience and so on.
Blizzard remade this old ARPG with modern image fidelity, carefully improving the visual effects of monsters, heroes, items and spells while retaining the familiar beauty of the original. They hope that Diablo 2 Resurrected can rekindle the precious memories of the old players of the game’s past, and hope that new player can also experience the passion.
Visual Effects Update
Lightning
- Witches can use lightning, which is a powerful skill that can shoot a flash of light from the fingertips. According to community feedback, the visual effect of Lightning has been enhanced, and its whiter and wider visual effect makes people think of the original visual effect.
Snowstorm
- The witch can call a blizzard and bring cold death to her enemies. Like lightning, the visual effects of this spell have also been adjusted to better capture the destructive power of the original version.
Holy Frozen
- Using this aura, the Paladin can continuously slow down and freeze nearby enemies. The visual effects of this AoE halo have been updated to better present the unique erratic feeling and color of the original game.
Monster Target
- When monsters are damaged by spells (such as cold spells), poisons or other status effects, or cannot move, the special effects have been color corrected based on community feedback.
Animation Update
Mana & HP
- When mana and health are returned to your character, the speed of its animation is now better aligned with the filling speed.
Icon Update
Item Color
- The colors of the scroll, gem, and potion icons have been enlarged to bring out more vivid colors, get more attention, and increase the clarity of the image. Weapons, armors, mission items and amulet icons have also undergone the same modification and treatment.
Game experience
The game experience elements reflect a wide range of features designed to make the game easier to play without affecting its core gameplay. If implemented properly, game experience changes can enrich the game’s playability and make it more interesting. For the reset version of Diablo 2, we hope to simplify this experience without affecting the memorable elements of the original game.
There are many unique places and systems in this game. If modernized, it will eventually destroy the original experience we love. Therefore, we will exercise restraint in order to protect the real experience and also consider player feedback throughout the development process.
Easy to use
From automatic gold picking, large font mode, UI scaling (for PC) and gamma/contrast settings to enhance readability, we have made great strides to provide players with customization options to meet their needs.
With these options, players can adjust the visibility of their HUD and graphics to find the ideal balance between beauty and madness, or whatever they like. We will introduce the efforts made to make Diablo II Resurrected easy to use in a more detailed blog post later.
User Interface Settings
Item name: Switch to update
- We clearly heard everyone’s voice. Now, you can choose to turn the item name on or off by pressing a button, or keep the original “press and hold” method. It is up to you to decide; go to the user interface settings to switch the item name on or off.
Shared treasure chest: save pages and updates
- After careful consideration, the shared treasure chest will now contain three pages of labels instead of one page. Many players feel that one page of tabs is not enough. When it comes to the player’s personal storage box, we know that this is a serious matter. This change will allow players to better manage their loot and store more items in three tabs (each with 100 slots).
Comparison tooltip: Toggle update
- The comparison tooltip on each item (hold the “button” to compare) can now be turned on or off in the user interface settings. Many players believe that this prompt adds unnecessary confusion to their HUD.
Automap Improvement
- Automated maps have always allowed players to navigate better by clicking the tab key to provide a fuzzy overlay of levels. We implemented a new art scheme to improve the readability of automated maps. For example, the overlay colors have been adjusted so that they don’t blend too much into the game world the player is exploring.
Map settings: option update
- The initial map setup caused some confusion during technical testing. There will now be a map option with three settings. These settings will be Left Small Map, Right Small Map, and Centered Full Screen. You only need to enable the way you want the map to be displayed on the HUD.
Miscellaneous Updates
Add Clock
- Yes, it’s time. Based on the request of many people, a clock was added to the Diablo 2 reset version. To enable the clock, go to the user interface settings and click the checkbox next to Clock.
Loading screen: character vulnerability and time
- Before the game is fully loaded, the character will no longer appear in the hostile area to prevent the character from being attacked or damaged during the loading screen. In addition, the overall load time will be faster.
Audio Changes
- Based on community feedback, the initial additional grunts and roars were deleted.
