In order to allow Chrome browser users to safely access the Internet, Google has introduced many enhancements to it. For example, in recent years, the IT industry has been working hard to transform Web servers from the insecure Hypertext Transfer Protocol (HTTP) to the more secure HTTPS.
Looking to the future, as long as the site supports it, Chrome will load the HTTPS version of the webpage by default. If there is only a pure HTTP mode, the browser will issue a warning before loading the site.
Google is currently testing the HTTPS only mode” security test in Chrome. If you are interested in experiencing it, you may wish to refer to the following activation method.

Take Chrome Canary 93.0.4558.0 version as an example:
- Visit chrome://flags/#https-only-mode-setting in the address bar;
- Find the setting mark of’HTPPS mode only’;
- Click to enable and restart the browser;
- Go to menu -> Settings -> Privacy and Security -> Security’;
- Switch the “Always use secure connection” under the “Advanced” setting item to the “On” state.
After completing the above changes, if you enter a URL without the HTTP or HTTPS prefix, the Chrome browser will retrieve the corresponding site by default to see if it has an available HTTPS version. If there is only a less secure HTTP connection, the Chrome browser will warn you when rendering an unencrypted page.
Whether it is Windows, Mac, Linux, Chrome OS, or Android platforms, you can try to enable this flag. If this feature officially enters the stable channel of Chrome in the future, the HTTPS Everywhere extension in Chrome will be a bit redundant.
