The Google Assistant will soon listen to your questions and commands, even if you don’t say Hey Google first. It will work for most standard commands. Furthermore, Google comes with smart shortcuts for apps in the Assistant.
Google Assistant
Google Assistant is a feat of artificial intelligence (AI), and the software is getting smarter. Google was able to answer related additional questions after an initial Hey Google question. Although you will be able to omit even that Hey Google in the future, XDA Developers discovered that in the code of the Google Assistant.
So you will be able to ask questions directly to your smart speaker, your smart display, or your phone. It only works for the simplest commands, such as pausing a timer or silencing an alarm. In such an assignment, Google listens to hotwords such as the word ‘timer’ and then springs into action. The feature has been in development since April and is codenamed ‘guacamole’, but it is also referred to as ‘voice shortcuts’. Now the first preparations for this can also be found in the code of Assistant.

Smart App Shortcuts
Google will also introduce so-called ‘dynamic shortcuts’. When you interact with an app through the Assistant, Google can give you access to helpful shortcuts at the bottom of its Assistant’s interface. That’s the same place where the Assistant also makes regular suggestions for actions, and with dynamic shortcuts, you immediately get to the function or page in an app that you need. To determine which shortcuts are relevant, the AI takes into account your interaction and the right context.
The Assistant will also work with another way with which you can bring it up on your phone, namely by long-pressing the power button. Google’s helper will also be able to disable phones with Android 12 based on voice command. Finally, we also know that Google wants to enable more human conversations with its Assistant, but that feature is still under development.
