In WhatsApp, some of the beta users can already work with the new Conversation Archive. Any conversations you archive will automatically remain muted, even when new messages arrive.
WhatsApp’s New Archive
WhatsApp has been offering the option to archive old conversations for some time. This way you remove them from your chat list and put things in order in your messaging app. In WhatsApp Beta with version 2.21.11.1, the service has now rolled out a new operation of the Archive to users.
The new Archive removes conversations from your chat list. You will not receive a notification for new messages and the chat remains in the Archive. The old WhatsApp Archive automatically returned a conversation to the conversation list when you received new messages. Anyone who was used to that old Archive can reactivate that operation by adjusting the WhatsApp settings. Go to Settings> Chats> Archived Chats. There you turn off Keep chats archived.

Archived Chats
If you select a conversation in WhatsApp, you can archive it by tapping the icon with the arrow pointing down. Once you have archived at least one conversation, you will also see the ‘Archived’ option at the top of your app and from there you can find all archived conversations.
The new Archive and the option ‘Keep chats archived’ are not yet visible to everyone who uses WhatsApp Beta. On one of our phones, the function only took effect after a call was archived. It is not known when the feature will roll out to the stable version of WhatsApp.
