YouTube invests $100 million to reward content creators of YouTube Shorts

YouTube announced on Tuesday that it will invest 100 million US dollars to pay content creators who make popular videos on its newly launched short video platform Shorts to attract more internet celebrities. People settled on the platform. YouTube said that the funds will be launched in the next few months, and will be paid to content creators this year and 2022.

Currently, short video platforms are competing to attract young creators who have accumulated a large number of fans by shooting comedy sketches and dance moves, and have huge potential for making money. The viral application TikTok started the trend of short video editing, which was quickly copied by other applications, such as Facebook’s Instagram’s Reels, Snapchat’s Spotlight and YouTube’s Shorts.

YouTube said the new fund will pay thousands of video content creators who have the highest audience engagement on Shorts every month. The streaming video site also said that it will start testing its advertising business on Shorts. As the market for short video features has become more and more crowded, major platforms have used creator support funds to attract more users.

In July last year, TikTok launched a creator fund, which subsequently increased the investment in the United States to US$1 billion in three years. Every day, Snap rewards users who publish top content on Spotlight with $1 million.
