Samsung Galaxy S20 users filed a class-action lawsuit against Samsung this week, claiming that the company deliberately concealed product design flaws, causing the camera lens glass to spontaneously shatter without applying external force.
The lawsuit was filed by the Hagens Berman law firm. The lawsuit stated that the glass “ split spontaneously without applying any external force, even when the phone is wrapped in a protective case”. Samsung claims that this defect is not covered by its warranty and charges users US$400 to repair the product. Many users reported that the same problem occurred again after the repair.

Samsung seems to be aware of this problem and even admitted on a Samsung forum that it was not caused by the user. One of the “Samsung Care Ambassadors” explained: “This happened to one of our ambassadors. After many people complained about this problem, we were found that this was related to the build-up of pressure under the glass, rather than the customer hitting it on something.”
The models affected by this design flaw include Galaxy S20, Galaxy S20+, Galaxy S20 Ultra 5G, Galaxy S20+ 5G, Galaxy S20 5G, Galaxy S20 Ultra/LTE, Galaxy S20 FE, and Galaxy S20 FE 5G. The case was filed in the District Court of New Jersey on April 27.
