Canalys released a report on the Chinese smartphone market for the first quarter of 2021. The report shows that the Chinese smartphone market has grown for the first time in four years, with a year-on-year increase of 27%. Vivo, OPPO, Huawei, Xiaomi and Apple are among the top five. Vivo ranked first with 21.6 million and 23% of the market share, and Huawei ranked third. The report shows that in the first quarter of 2021, the Chinese smartphone market returned to the level of the first quarter of 2019, with shipments of 92.4 million units, a year-on-year increase of 27%.
According to the ranking, Vivo ranked first with 21.6 million shipments, a year-on-year increase of 79%, and the market accounted for 23%; OPPO followed closely, ranking second with 20.6 million shipments, a year-on-year increase of 65%, the market accounted for 22%. Due to the ban, Huawei dropped 50% year on year, with a market share of 16% and shipments of 14.9 million units.

Xiaomi has grown by 75% year-on-year, with market shipments of 13.5 million units, with a market share of 15%, ranking fourth; Apple has grown by 49% year-on-year, with market shipments of 12 million units, ranking fifth. “China’s smartphone market has achieved a good trend at the beginning of 2021, and as 5G continues to penetrate, the momentum will be even stronger.” Canalys analysts believe.
