Microsoft is remaking the UI for Windows 10 and is expected to release the official version in October/November this year. This update is called Sun Valley internally by Microsoft. It is actually the “21H2 version” and will introduce a “full Windows UI revival”, including a new start menu interface, major browser improvements, task manager updates, etc.
Microsoft has been testing new UI for Windows 10, such as the new version of the alarm clock and clock design. Although it looks like a lot, in fact, one of the most important changes in the new version seems to be the introduction of a rounded corner UI design, and it seems that it will also include a new “floating” design.

In addition, from the new code changes in the preview version, you can find that the floating design of the taskbar menu is also included. The new UI of the taskbar menu (taskbar right-click menu) puts the menu in a floating box. This new version feature currently seems to be hidden in the experimental flag “JumpListRestyledAcrylic” setting, but we can use Visual Studio to debug ShellExperienceHost.exe, and Set “JumpListRestyledAcrylic” to visible, and then you can activate this feature.
After enabling the floating UI design, when you fix/open various applications, the pop-up right-click menu will float above the taskbar instead of clinging to the taskbar as before. In addition, the action center, clock menu pop-up, volume pop-up and WiFi pop-up will also adopt the same floating design.
But so far, this floating design only applies to jump list menus, and it also requires the user to manually enable it using Visual Studio, which means that this feature may not actually be perfect. These UI’s may really be a big update for Microsoft, and they will be unveiled in the second half of this year as part of the Sun Valley update. It is worth looking forward to.
