For decades, calendar software like Outlook has always defaulted to meeting hourly, often inadvertently the phenomenon of wheel war meetings, and its default settings do not take into account the need for rest. Due to numerous and lengthy online meetings, especially back-to-back continuous meetings will cause additional mental stress to the participants, a new meeting was created in Outlook before, and it will default to hourly and 30-minute length. Even if it is a drop-down menu, it is not easy to select a custom time.
Microsoft made some changes to the Outlook system after conducting its own digital overload research to deal with millions of people working from home during the pandemic. Video conferencing has become a popular way for workers to communicate, but this change in working methods also has its shortcomings. “More remote work is challenging our well-being,” said Jared Spataro, corporate vice president of Microsoft 365. “The digital overload is real and must be changed.”
Join Our RealMi Central Channel On TelegramMicrosoft Outlook can now automatically shorten meetings and allow users to take necessary breaks between meetings. Business customers are allowed to set the default value of scheduling for the entire organization to shorten the meeting time and create a rest space for everyone in the company. Using this feature, individual users can also set default values for their schedules, automatically shortening their scheduled meetings.
Here is how the new settings work:
Administrators can automatically set the meetings in their organization to start late or end early and decide whether the break time is at the start or end of the meeting. As a result, companies can also apply different settings for different meeting lengths-60 minutes and over or under 60 minutes.
For example, you can delay the start of all meetings under 60 minutes with a 5-minute break, and all meetings of 60 minutes or more delay the start with a 10-minute break. If you are an IT administrator, you can find instructions for enabling this feature in the source link:
