Users may notice that some very old apps are receiving new App Store updates. These updates are not to fix bugs or add new features, but because Apple is updating the apps of developers who use the old App Store code signing certificate with the latest version so that they can launch correctly in the upcoming iOS 14.5 and iPadOS 14.5.
Developers of affected apps do not need to re-sign the apps themselves, because Apple will issue updates and new signing certificates. When Apple releases the update, it will automatically attach the What’s New text “This application has been updated by Apple to use the latest Apple signature certificate.”

Apple reminds developers of affected applications to pay attention to the required update and its purpose, and the update has already begun to be rolled out to users. This change only affects those applications that have not been updated for several years.
So the code signing certificate is out of date. Apple carried out a wave of similar signing certificate updates in July last year. The updated signature certificate will allow the app to be launched as scheduled in the upcoming iOS 14.5 and iPad OS 14.5.
