Apple closes iOS 14.4.1 system verification channel to prevent iOS 14.4.2 downgrade

After the release of the official version of iOS 14.4.2 in late March, Apple today stopped the verification of iOS 14.4.1. This means that users who have updated to iOS 14.4.2 cannot downgrade to iOS 14.4.1.

iOS 14.4.2 provides important security updates, which Apple previously recommended to all users to install. Apple usually stops verifying the old version of iOS within a few weeks after pushing the official version update.

For some users who have updated to the latest iOS system, when they encounter major bugs, the downgrade method is sometimes very effective. This is why Apple will wait for a while before closing the verification channel of the old iOS system.

The security support file at the release of iOS 14.4.1 shows that the update fixes a WebKit bug that may have previously allowed malicious creation of network content execution code. WebKit is the browser engine for Safari and third-party browsers on iOS.
