According to the latest report released by market research agency Counterpoint Research, OPPO surpassed Huawei for the first time to become China’s largest smartphone manufacturer.
In January of this year, OPPO’s share of the Chinese market reached 21%, ranking first; the Vivo brand, also under the BBK Group, followed closely behind with a 20% share, tied for second place with Huawei. Apple and Xiaomi share 16%, tied for third place.

OPPO’s ability to surpass Huawei is of course due to its own 5G mobile phones. Naturally, Huawei is also affected by its capacity constraints and its inability to meet market demand. OPPO’s market share in January increased by 33% month-on-month and 26% year-on-year.
