As per the latest information, Microsoft’s strategy for Windows 10 default applications has been a disaster for many years. Some applications such as “Photos” and “Microsoft Store” have been plagued by various problems, but recently, Microsoft has been working hard to solve this problem.
According to reliable sources, Microsoft is developing new UI features for the default applications of Windows 10, such as “Microsoft Photos” and “Mail and Calendar.” Obviously, Microsoft’s “Alarm Clock and Clock” is the first application to obtain Sun Valley-related UI improvements in the production channel.
The new “Alarm Clock and Clock” app experience was announced in December last year, but many users found that the new UI is not open to everyone.
It seems that the initial deployment of the new application has been completed, which means that all users can now use it. With the release of the 10.2101.28.0 version of the application, Microsoft now pushes everyone a new interface.

As can be seen from the screenshots, Microsoft’s new UI for the built-in “Alarm Clock and Clock” is based on last year’s WinUI and Sun Valley updated UI mockups.
For some reason, the new “Alarm Clock and Clock” now uses a combination of rounded and sharp corners, but it is likely to solve the consistency problem before the Sun Valley UI update.
In addition to the UI changes, an “Edit” button has been added at the bottom to help you quickly manage alarms, timers, etc.
Edit and Create has also been redesigned, and the updated UI of Sun Valley has been improved. The menu is now more compact, and it comes with new animations, rounded corners, and colors. The light theme has also been refreshed, it uses a light gray background instead of bright white.
To get the update, you need to visit the Microsoft Store and check for updates. If you still don’t see the new design on your device, you may also need to install the latest cumulative update. When finished, check for updates again or wait another week.
A job posting found by foreign media in January confirmed that Microsoft is developing a “best-in-class” application for Windows 10 to replace the poorly designed default application. So far, only the “Alarm Clock and Clock” app has received the Sun Valley UI update, but other apps may also receive the same treatment in the next few months.
